Ukrainian intelligence has obtained information confirming that Russia is providing Iran with intelligence data, according to the Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The statement was published on the president’s Telegram channel following a briefing from the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov / or senior GUR leadership.
Zelenskyy said there is “undeniable evidence” that Russian forces continue to provide intelligence support to the Iranian regime, including through radio-technical and electronic intelligence capabilities, as well as data obtained via contacts in the Middle East.
Broader context
The statement aligns with earlier reporting by The Washington Post, which suggested Russia had shared information about U.S. military positions in the Middle East with Iran.
U.S. officials have given mixed responses to such reports, while Russian and Iranian officials have denied some of the allegations.
Ukrainian officials have repeatedly argued that cooperation between Moscow and Tehran has intensified since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, particularly in the areas of drones and military technology.
