Ukraine and Russia have agreed on the timing of a local ceasefire in the occupied city of Oleshky, with the truce set to begin on October 27, Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said.
Lubinets held an online meeting with Yana Lantratova, head of the Russian negotiating team, to discuss coordination of the humanitarian mission in Oleshky.
The Ukrainian side announced that the ceasefire would begin at 3 a.m. Kyiv time on October 27. Lantratova confirmed that it would start at 4 a.m. Moscow time, corresponding to the same moment.
The two sides also reviewed previously agreed arrangements and exchanged information. Lubinets said both parties had confirmed that preparations were proceeding in line with the preliminary agreement and that they were meeting their commitments.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces had previously announced the local ceasefire to enable a humanitarian operation in the temporarily occupied city. Ukrainian and Russian representatives also reached an agreement to unblock Oleshky and surrounding areas.
According to a White House report, the local truce is intended to help rescue civilians and deliver essential aid.
