Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has signed a formal notice of suspicion against Semen Kryvonos, director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), and called on him to resign.
Kravchenko said he suspects Kryvonos of forging official documents to obtain an especially large unlawful benefit.
“I suspect him of falsifying official documents in order to obtain an unlawful benefit on an especially large scale,” Kravchenko said.
The statement came amid the “Carthage” operation conducted by NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), which is investigating an alleged criminal organization involving prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Kravchenko himself submitted his resignation the previous day.

On September 4, NABU and SAPO announced that they had uncovered an alleged criminal organization within the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to investigators, the group allegedly provided protection to a network of fraudulent call centers and helped launder assets obtained through their activities.
On September 6, Kravchenko denied any involvement in the alleged scheme. He ordered the suspension of an employee allegedly connected to the activity and called for an internal review of the relevant department.
On September 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Kravchenko and the heads of NABU and SAPO.
Following the meeting, Kravchenko submitted his resignation, and the relevant motion was sent to the Verkhovna Rada.
