Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has submitted his resignation.

“This is a political decision, and I made it consciously. I do not want the position of Prosecutor General to be used as an instrument of political confrontation,” Kravchenko said.

He added that his position regarding the allegations against him had not changed.

Kravchenko thanked prosecutors and other colleagues who continue to work in courts, assist victims, document Russian war crimes and defend the interests of the state.

He also thanked President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Verkhovna Rada for their trust and asked parliament to accept his resignation.

Earlier, Kravchenko said he did not intend to resign voluntarily but would comply with a parliamentary decision if lawmakers voted for his dismissal.

The Prosecutor General had recently addressed his appearance in NABU recordings, denying allegations that he had protected illegal call centers. He also rejected claims linking him to cash found in a safe, family trips, the purchase of a laptop or renovations of a house in Kozyn.

The allegations are part of the “Carthage” operation conducted by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), which is investigating alleged protection of illegal call centers and the laundering of assets obtained through their activities.
