Ukraine and the United States are continuing to implement agreements reached during recent talks, with both sides preparing documents for new missile-related projects.

Missile cooperation moves forward

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, recent meetings in the United States resulted in agreements on several specific missile system initiatives, as well as expanded cooperation between Ukrainian and American defense companies.

The necessary documents are now being prepared, while communication between the participating companies is ongoing. The effort will be coordinated by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa together with Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, US partners, and Ukrainian manufacturers.

"There will be more strength for our warriors," Zelensky said.

Strengthening Ukraine's air defense

Zelensky also said Ukraine is continuing to implement defense agreements with its international partners, with particular attention being paid to strengthening the country's air defense.

"We are working with the American side and our European partners to secure the support packages Ukraine needs. It is not easy, but we expect results. Air defense missiles belong in our launchers, not sitting in warehouses far from the real threats," the president said.

Western weapons production to expand in Ukraine

The president also announced continued work on localizing the production of key Western weapons in Ukraine.

"There will be a significant expansion in this area," Zelensky said, thanking European partners for supporting defense manufacturing localization and joint defense projects.

Background

Earlier, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said Washington continues negotiations with Kyiv on possible joint production related to Patriot air defense systems.

According to Whitaker, the United States is considering several forms of cooperation with Ukraine and its European partners, although a long-term production agreement is not expected to be finalized before the start of this winter.
