On the night of January 25, Russia attacked Ukraine with two ballistic missiles and 102 attack drones launched from various directions. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to destroy the majority of the incoming targets.
This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Air Force.
According to the military, from 6:30 p.m. on January 24 until the morning of January 25, Russian forces launched two ballistic Iskander-M missiles / S-300 surface-to-air guided missiles from Russia’s Bryansk region.
In addition, the enemy deployed 102 attack drones of the Shahed type, “Gerbera,” and other UAVs from the directions of Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Shatalovo (Russia), and the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk. About 70 of them were Shahed drones.
The air assault was repelled by aviation units, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
As of 8:30 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 87 enemy drones of various types across northern, southern, central, and eastern regions of the country.
Fifteen strike drones hit targets at ten locations, and debris from downed UAVs fell at one location. Information regarding the two enemy missiles is still being уточнено.
“The attack is ongoing. Several enemy UAVs remain in Ukrainian airspace. Please follow safety rules,” the Air Force warned.
Shelling of Ukraine
Earlier, on the night of January 25, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv with strike drones. At least one UAV hit was recorded in the city.
The previous night, January 24, Russia launched 375 drones and 21 missiles at Ukraine. According to the Air Force, 372 targets were destroyed by morning — including 15 missiles and 357 drones.
Kyiv and Kharkiv were the main targets of that attack. In the capital, damage and destruction were recorded in five districts, and the left bank experienced disruptions to heating and water supply.
In Kharkiv, residential buildings were also damaged as a result of the drone strike.
