Russia launched 101 attack drones at Ukraine overnight from multiple directions, with air defense forces shooting down 76 of them, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram.
According to the military, from 8:00 p.m. on January 22 until the morning of January 23, Russia attacked using 101 strike drones, including Shahed UAVs (some jet-powered), Gerbera drones and other types. The launches came from Kursk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from Donetsk in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. About 60 of the drones were Shaheds.
The air assault was repelled by Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups. As of 8:00 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 76 enemy drones.
Hits were recorded by 19 strike drones at 12 locations. The Air Force warned that the attack was still ongoing, with several hostile UAVs remaining in Ukrainian airspace, and urged civilians to follow safety rules.
Earlier, on January 22, Kryvyi Rih endured a record-breaking missile and drone attack lasting more than 10 hours. More than 10 people were injured, including four children aged between 1.5 and 10. Six victims remain hospitalized in moderate condition. Eighteen buildings were damaged, including 13 apartment blocks, one of which was almost completely destroyed.
Russia also struck the city of Dnipro with drones, partially destroying a 16-story residential building and injuring civilians. In Odesa region, the city of Chornomorsk was left without electricity and heating after a Russian drone attack overnight on January 22.
The previous night, Russia had launched 94 strike drones at Ukraine, with air defenses downing 80 of them. Ten drones hit targets at 10 locations, while debris from downed UAVs fell at four other sites.
