Drones attacked two Russian cities, Tolyatti and Taganrog, overnight on September 12, according to the monitoring channel Exilenova+.
Chemical plant in Tolyatti
According to OSINT sources, the possible target in Tolyatti was the KuibyshevAzot chemical plant.
The facility produces ammonia, ammonium nitrate, urea, ammonium sulfate, caprolactam and polyamide, making it one of Russia’s strategically important chemical companies.
The plant has been targeted before, including in a drone strike in March 2026.
Fires reported in Taganrog
Several fires were reported in Taganrog following the overnight drone attack.
OSINT sources reported a fire involving a tank at a local automobile plant. Residents also reported a fire at an airfield.
According to an ASTRA OSINT analysis, drones may have targeted the Taganrog-Central military airfield, where Russia’s 708th Military Transport Aviation Regiment is based. A 325th Aircraft Repair Plant also operates nearby.
Taganrog Mayor Svetlana Kambulova confirmed a large-scale drone attack on the city. She said Russian air defenses destroyed drones over the area and that several fires were reported. No casualties had been reported at the time, while the authorities were still assessing the damage.
The attacks come amid a recent increase in strikes on Russian industrial and energy infrastructure. On September 11, several Russian cities, including Volgograd, Kaspiysk and Samara, were targeted, with oil and port facilities reportedly affected.
Saratov was also attacked that night, with fires reported at the Saratov oil refinery and an Ozon warehouse.
Ukraine has also recently increased the range of its strikes inside Russia, including an FP-1 drone attack on the Novy Urengoy and Purpe gas facilities.
