The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian forces carried out a large-scale overnight drone attack on Ukraine, launching 251 strike UAVs of various types, including “Shahed,” “Gerbera,” and “Italmas,” from six different directions.
According to the statement from the Ukrainian Air Force, approximately 150 of the drones were “Shahed”-type UAVs. Air defenses, aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups were all involved in repelling the attack.
As of 08:00 local time, Ukrainian forces had shot down or suppressed 234 enemy drones. Despite the high interception rate, 17 drones reportedly struck 11 locations, with additional debris from downed UAVs falling in eight areas.
Officials also confirmed that the attack involved continued drone activity in Ukrainian airspace even after the main wave, urging civilians to remain cautious and follow air raid instructions.
Authorities stressed that Russia continues to rely heavily on mass drone strikes, while Ukrainian air defenses intercept the majority of incoming targets.
