On the night of March 15, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with nearly a hundred drones of various types. About 70 of them were Shahed kamikaze drones.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram.
How many drones Russia launched
According to the military, the attack began at 18:00 on March 14.
Russian troops used 97 strike drones of various types, including:
- Shahed;
- Gerbera drone;
- Italmas drone;
- other types of UAVs.
About 70 of them were Shahed-type kamikaze drones.
The launches were carried out from five directions: Bryansk Oblast, Oryol Oblast, Kursk Oblast and Millerovo in Russia, as well as from Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.
How Ukrainian air defense responded
The aerial attack was repelled by:
- aviation;
- anti-aircraft missile units;
- electronic warfare units;
- unmanned systems units;
- mobile fire groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data as of 08:00, Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 90 enemy drones.
At the same time, five strike drones hit targets in five locations, while debris from downed UAVs fell in two other areas.
“The attack is ongoing, several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Follow safety rules,” the Ukrainian Air Force said.
Previous attacks
Earlier, in Sumy Oblast a Russian drone struck a suburban train. Passengers were not injured, but Ukrzaliznytsia temporarily changed some routes.
Another drone attack targeted a suburban train in Kharkiv Oblast on March 14, injuring the train driver and his assistant.
Meanwhile, in Kyiv Oblast a massive Russian strike destroyed the production facility of Ukrainian clothing brands JUL and TAGO.
