Russia has intensified offensive operations along the front line due to improved weather conditions, but its losses are rising sharply. Over the past week alone, more than 8,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or seriously wounded.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“Over the past week, we have observed attempts by Russian forces to step up offensive actions, taking advantage of more favorable weather. As a result, the only tangible outcome for the Russian army has been increased losses — more than 8,000 killed and severely wounded in just seven days,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that Russian command has begun to realize the discrepancy between actual frontline positions and the reports being submitted up the chain of command.
“Some of their brigade-level commanders have already been replaced as punishment for false reporting. However, this will not help the occupier,” he emphasized.
Situation on the front
According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk region have not significantly changed over the past week.
In the Kharkiv region and border communities of the Sumy region, Russian forces have attempted to advance from the border, but Ukrainian Defense Forces are repelling these efforts.
“Active operations by our assault and airborne units continue in the Oleksandrivka direction — I thank every warrior. We also noted the precision of our deep strikes and outlined further plans, approving several new operations,” Zelenskyy said.
Russian offensive outlook
Earlier reports indicated that Russian forces have stepped up offensive actions in recent weeks across several sectors of the front, with a particularly noticeable increase in activity in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
At the same time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia’s spring offensive has effectively failed. According to him, Russian troops are currently unable to advance using heavy equipment and are instead relying on infiltration tactics with small groups.
