Russian forces attacked the Starokozache international road border crossing on the border with Moldova overnight on September 9, striking the checkpoint’s infrastructure and nearby territory, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported.
Fires broke out following the strikes. Civilians near the border crossing were killed and injured.
Passenger and vehicle traffic through the checkpoint has been temporarily suspended. Ukrainian border authorities have informed their Moldovan counterparts about the situation.
The attack follows repeated Russian strikes on border infrastructure in Odesa region.
On September 1, Russian Shahed drones struck the Orlivka international border crossing on the border with Romania, damaging buildings and the checkpoint grounds. The crossing resumed operations on September 2 but was temporarily closed again after another Russian attack on September 6.
