Ukrainian troops have repelled what is described as the largest mechanized assault on one of the front-line directions.
On March 19, Russian occupation forces attempted to break through defenses on the Lyman–Borova axis, launching their most масштабний mechanized attack. According to Ukraine’s Third Army Corps, the offensive was carried out simultaneously across seven directions along a 150-kilometer հատված of the front.
Russia deployed units from the 20th Combined Arms Army and the 1st Tank Army. More than 500 troops, over 100 motorized vehicles, and 28 armored vehicles were involved in the assault.
However, Russian columns began taking losses even before reaching the line of contact.
Over four hours of fighting, units of the Third Army Corps destroyed or damaged:
- 11 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers
- 84 motorized vehicles
- 3 tanks
- 5 artillery systems
- a TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” heavy flamethrower system
