Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Syzran oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region and the Atlant Aero enterprise in Taganrog overnight on September 15, Ukraine’s General Staff reported.
The strikes hit two Russian military-industrial and energy facilities.
Syzran refinery damaged
The Syzran refinery, part of Rosneft, was hit and caught fire. The General Staff said the attack damaged the AVT-6 primary oil-refining unit and a tank farm.
The refinery can process around 8.9 million tonnes of crude oil per year and produces gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel, among other petroleum products. It also contributes to supplying the Russian military.
Drone manufacturer hit
Explosions and a fire were reported at Atlant Aero in Taganrog, Rostov region.
The company specializes in producing drones and components for unmanned systems. Its products include the Blyskavka reconnaissance-strike UAV and components for Russia’s Orion drones.
The enterprise is used to support the Russian armed forces with unmanned systems.
Damage at Slavyansk ECO refinery confirmed
The Ukrainian General Staff also confirmed the consequences of the September 13 strike on the Slavyansk ECO refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Krai.
According to the latest assessment, three storage tanks were destroyed and another eight were damaged.
The attacks came amid a broader campaign against Russian energy and defense-industry facilities. Overnight on September 15, explosions were also reported at Sebryakovcement, described as Russia’s largest cement producer, while a fire was reported at the Syzran refinery.
